About the position

The Network Engineer at Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union (TVFCU) is responsible for the administration, operation, monitoring, support, and maintenance of the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), servers, and various networking devices. This role involves providing tier three support for operating systems, servers, and workstation applications while ensuring adherence to information security policies and best practices. The position is based on-site at the Chattanooga Corporate Headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and install hardware and software for LAN/WAN and servers.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot networking devices including switches, routers, and security devices.
  • Perform LAN/WAN engineering of firewalls, routers, and switches.
  • Design, maintain, and modify IP routing and VLAN topologies.
  • Provide maintenance/support for Internet/WAN, Firewalls, DMZ, DNS, NAT, VoIP, Policies, Routing, and ACLs.
  • Implement, tune, and maintain VMware and SAN solutions.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot system performance within the VMware environment.
  • Provide support for LAN, MS Domain, Active Directory, MS Server products, Exchange, IIS, SQL, and other enterprise applications.
  • Resolve infrastructure problems or malfunctions.
  • Assist with software and hardware maintenance, upgrades, repairs, or replacements to Network LAN/WAN servers.
  • Maintain the integrity of infrastructure hardware and software through preventative maintenance and security implementations.
  • Ensure reliability, performance, recoverability, and security of infrastructure components and applications.
  • Monitor network resources and carriers for availability and performance.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and simulations.
  • Provide technical recommendations to improve network performance and security.
  • Evaluate new products and emerging technologies.
  • Assist in the development of Information Security procedures and processes as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of branch operations through training courses.
  • Demonstrate TVFCU core values in interactions with members.

Requirements

  • Three to five years of experience in a related field, with a preference for at least two years of experience in WAN connections.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience and relevant IT certifications (such as Microsoft MCSE).
  • Ability to communicate with courtesy, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in operating computer equipment and software, including word processing and spreadsheets.
