About the position

The Network Engineer position at Advantage Tech involves providing hands-on project work and support for both Cloud and On-premises networks, with a strong emphasis on security. The role requires expertise in Microsoft Azure, local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and integration with cloud systems. The engineer will support remote offices and datacenters, ensuring connectivity within VMWare NSX virtual networking while proactively monitoring and troubleshooting network issues.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement highly available, multi-region network solutions within Microsoft Azure
  • Proactively monitor, troubleshoot and resolve cloud resource problems
  • Perform maintenance of network related hardware and software
  • Develop and execute project plans
  • Perform cost comparisons and cost analysis for emerging technologies for proposed solutions
  • Provide support on cloud connectivity and DR Services
  • Configure and support network L2/L3 solutions in a highly-scalable, High Availability and redundant WAN
  • Troubleshoot issues on the network layer to resolve performance or fault issues
  • Manage security and access controls of cloud-based and on-premises solutions
  • Select new technologies and products to improve the networking (Cloud, LAN, WAN)
  • Schedule network downtimes to minimize user impact
  • Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning to manage network performance and capacity requirement
  • Work after hours and on weekends as needed

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, and Internet circuits
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Azure
  • Solid knowledge of the interaction and interdependencies of cloud, networks, and computer hardware and software to ensure optimal performance
  • Solid knowledge of performance optimization and capacity planning for local area and wide area network components
  • Outstanding complex problem identification/troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to assess the business impact of issues and prioritize them
  • Ability to develop detailed project plans
  • College Graduate or equivalent years of experience
  • Cisco Certifications or Formal Training with experience
  • 2+ years Azure experience involving design, deployment, and configuration

Nice-to-haves

  • F5, NSX, Ansible, or Terraform experience
  • Experience with Cisco automation
