About the position

The Network Engineer position at Amentum involves supporting the Cyber Security & Information Assurance (CSIA) Support Services office, primarily at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD, and Ft Belvoir, VA. The role encompasses planning, designing, and evaluating computer network systems, ensuring network integrity, troubleshooting issues, and providing technical assistance in network planning and architecture. The position is contingent upon award and requires close collaboration with government project leads.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, designs, and evaluates new and existing computer network systems and services.
  • Oversees, develops, and implements network policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoots network issues and installs/upgrades network equipment and software.
  • Creates and maintains documentation relating to network configuration and processes.
  • Establishes and documents network technical support processes and procedures.
  • Practices network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory.
  • Establishes voice and network standards regarding new technologies and applications.
  • Monitors and tests network performance, providing statistics and reports.
  • Acts as technical liaison between clients, customers, and vendors.
  • Plans and evaluates complex existing network systems and makes recommendations for resources.
  • Provides technical assistance in network planning, engineering, and architecture.
  • Develops technical standards and interface applications; identifies and evaluates new products.
  • Interfaces with internal/external customers and vendors to determine system needs.
  • Plans and incorporates new network resources and applications into the network.
  • Provides monthly metrics for network availability and bandwidth usage.
  • Responsible for network capacity planning and management.
  • Uses network management tools to discover, map, and maintain the network.
  • Responsible for network equipment OS and version upgrades.
  • Conducts research of new technologies and implementation strategies.
  • Monitors and maintains network interfaces for optimal performance.
  • Documents procedures and keeps network diagrams up to date.
  • Handles escalated user problems and requests on network issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business or related scientific/technical discipline.
  • 1-10+ years' experience in network engineering or related field.
  • Active TOP SECRET US Government Clearance.
