About the position

ManTech International Corporation is seeking a motivated and career-oriented Network Engineer at the mid-level to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO. This position plays a crucial role in securing our nation's infrastructure while working on innovative projects that offer opportunities for advancement. As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing network access trends and resolving bandwidth management issues for mission-critical systems. You will implement, troubleshoot, monitor, and maintain all aspects of LAN/WAN/VPN networks to ensure high availability across parallel development, testing, and production environments. Your responsibilities will include reviewing SNMP alerts, utilizing protocol-line analyzers, and conducting log forensics to determine root causes and resolve complex issues. You will collaborate with software and database developers, Windows and Linux server administrators, and security personnel to analyze Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) requirements, troubleshoot anomalies, and implement appropriate firewall configurations. Additionally, you will draft and submit recommended change request proposals necessary for timely mitigation of POA&Ms and CVE findings, while maintaining system compliance with DHS/FISMA IT Security and Information Assurance objectives concerning the privacy of passenger screening information. You will also be responsible for installing new releases and system upgrades, evaluating and installing patches, and resolving network-related problems. Performing system backups and recovery, maintaining data files, and monitoring system configuration to ensure network integrity will be part of your daily tasks. This role requires a certain degree of creativity and latitude, and you will typically report to a project leader or manager. You will work under general supervision and are expected to execute sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze network access trends and resolve bandwidth management issues for mission-critical systems.
  • Implement, troubleshoot, monitor, and maintain all aspects of LAN/WAN/VPN networks for high availability.
  • Review SNMP alerts and conduct log forensics to determine root cause analysis and resolution of complex issues.
  • Collaborate with software and database developers, server administrators, and security personnel to analyze SDLC requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience in network troubleshooting and network management tools.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts including VLANs, Switch ports, LAN, WAN, and VPN.
  • Experience managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting an enterprise network on Cisco hardware.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience analyzing, implementing, and troubleshooting firewall rules on Cisco devices.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Network Automation.
  • Routing experience including static routes, EIGRP, and route redistribution.
  • Switching experience including understanding of virtual port-channels, spanning tree, and security best practices.
  • Experience with firewall concepts and configurations including access control lists and VPNs.
  • Experience with load balancing concepts and configurations including layer4/layer7 and health monitoring.
  • Monitoring of all network components via SolarWinds.
