About the position

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Network Engineer to support the US Army Network Enterprise Technology Command (NETCOM) at Schofield Barracks, HI. The NETCOM has implemented the enterprise Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC), Multiple Independent Levels of Security (MILS), and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions that provide Army users with secure access to classified networks. The CSfC capability, known as Virtual Secure - Remote (ViSR), supports remote SIPRNet access for up to 2,000 concurrent users initially, with scalability potential up to 15,000 concurrent users as the Government continues to onboard users. The successful candidate will lead the Operations and Maintenance activities and provide engineering support to expand the capacity of the customer's ViSR solution set. Additionally, the candidate will support the implementation of the solution architecture in other NETCOM areas of operation. The work environment is located at Schofield Barracks, HI, in an office setting with a low noise level. The work schedule follows a CONUS schedule, typically day shift from Monday to Friday, but may require evening and weekend work to meet program and contract needs. The position involves less than 20% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Sr. Network Engineer to operate and maintain the Commercial Solution for Classified (CSfC) ViSR system.
  • Ensure system compliance with requirements set forth by the NSA and DoD.
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the installed system including routers, switches, firewalls, IDS/IPS devices, server hardware, software applications, continuous monitoring, data collection, and security posture.
  • Develop and implement system topologies and configurations based on operational requirements and objectives.
  • Create architecture diagrams, develop IP Address tables, cable running lists, and other system architecture documents.
  • Configure/manage PKI Certificate Authorities for CSfC solutions.
  • Have working knowledge of Certificate Authority applications (ISC CertAgent/MS Windows Server/Red Hat Certificate systems).
  • Configure firewalls, Intrusion Prevention/Detection systems, VPN gateways, and wireless controllers from various vendors (e.g., Aruba, Cisco, Palo Alto, SonicWALL, Juniper).
  • Review organization and IT system security controls and enforcement mechanisms to ensure an effective IA security program including boundary defense, end-point defense, incident detection and response, and key management.
  • Support all Cross-Domain solution operational requirements.
  • Support the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, and software applications ensuring integration with IA security requirements for the organization.
  • Aid in the development of standardized system documentation, including configuration guides, test procedures, test results, and training materials.
  • Collaborate with other operations departments to improve infrastructure.
  • Take charge of troubleshooting system outages for Tier 2 and 3 systems until returned to service.
  • Identify and recommend hardware and support solutions based on research and analysis of new technologies, interfacing with customers and vendors.
  • Apply DoD STIGs and IAVAs.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in IT engineering.
  • Qualifying Professional Certification for DoD Cyber Workforce 8570 Baseline IAT Level II.
  • Professional level Network Certification (CCNP, JNCIP, etc.).
  • Experience working in DoD IT environments.
  • Working knowledge of DoD RMF processes.
  • Experience implementing Identity Management applications and AAA.
  • Must possess a DoD Secret level security clearance (must successfully complete T5 investigation after hire).
  • BS in IT or Engineering related field + 12 years of IT experience.
  • MS Degree in IT or Cyber related field + 10 years of IT experience.
