About the position

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Permanent Network Engineer to join our dynamic and innovative technology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and managing the local and wide area networks of an organization to ensure maximum uptime for users. This role involves designing system configurations, documenting and managing the installation of a new network, and maintaining and upgrading existing systems as necessary. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network engineering and a passion for technology, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with other IT professionals and stakeholders. In this position, you will design, set up, and configure complex switching environments, develop and implement policies for network asset management, including IP address management, network device management, and security management. You will also configure and install various network devices and services such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, and QoS. Performing network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations, will be a key part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will monitor performance to ensure system availability and reliability, as well as system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning. As a Network Engineer, you will provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues, work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure, and liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution. Participation in disaster recovery planning and testing will also be part of your role, ensuring that the organization is prepared for any potential network disruptions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, set up, and configure complex switching environments.

  • Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, and security configurations.
  • Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
  • Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
  • Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of proven hands-on network engineering experience.
  • CCNA/CCNP or equivalent certification is required.
  • Deep understanding of networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS).
  • Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytics tools.
  • University degree in Computer Science or a related subject.
  • Experience with Juniper, Fortinet, Routing, Switches, Wireless, Firewall is required.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
  • Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, controllers.
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization.
  • A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Dependable and flexible when necessary.
  • Network security experience.
  • LAN and WAN experience.
