About the position

Leidos is seeking a Network Engineer to join our Defense Enclave Services (DES) team, who will support an extensive digital modernization program critical to DISA and Fourth Estate Agencies. This position is essential for designing, maintaining, and operating Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs), as well as ensuring network security and internet connectivity. The role requires a proactive approach to optimize system performance and manage data flow effectively. The Network Engineer will be responsible for maintaining existing network equipment and installing new equipment in plant environments, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally. The successful candidate will conduct data captures to obtain network performance information, aiming to minimize network latency and maximize data throughput. This involves providing input to the design of the organization's network and mission architecture, as well as designing solutions, integrating, configuring, deploying, testing, and maintaining various types of network devices and methodologies. The role also includes configuring and optimizing the network to connect various front-end and back-end components, gathering necessary data to specify system performance and interface requirements, and implementing specific network solutions to support server requirements, including load-balancing, VPNs, firewall contexts, Traffic Shaping, Voice over IP (VoIP), GRE Tunneling, IP Security (IPSec), IP Encryption, Media over IP (MoIP), and network address translation (NAT). Flexibility in working hours is crucial, as the Network Engineer must be available to support the team when needed, which may include occasional on-call support and additional hours based on mission needs. The position is primarily a Monday-Friday day shift, but candidates must be open to shift changes depending on mission requirements, including potential mids or swing shifts.
