About the position

The Network Engineer position is responsible for providing day-to-day coordination and project management of district-wide technology initiatives. This role supports various software systems related to finance, student management, food services, and integrated learning systems, ensuring smooth operation and troubleshooting as needed. The Network Engineer also manages the district's internet connections, email systems, and security measures, contributing to the overall technology infrastructure of the district.

Responsibilities

  • Support software related to district finance and accounting activities.
  • Troubleshoot problems related to the student management system.
  • Troubleshoot problems related to the food service department.
  • Create and assist with importing and exporting user lists into school servers.
  • Support and troubleshoot district-wide integrated learning systems such as Edgenuity and server-based media circulation software.
  • Support and troubleshoot the district website.
  • Manage disaster recovery from a crashed file server.
  • Manage the firewall as necessary.
  • Maintain and manage the district's Internet connections and Wi-Fi.
  • Maintain and manage the system Group Policy Object (GPO).
  • Manage all aspects of email, including setup and licensing, and setting up block and allow rules.
  • Manage Office 365 groups and district distribution lists.
  • Monitor the network for security and take measures to prevent unauthorized access and virus infection.
  • Maintain and manage the system Update System.
  • Install and configure file servers.
  • Install and support server-based applications.
  • Assist the Technology Supervisor in the evaluation, selection, bidding, and purchasing of computers, software, and related technology.

Requirements

  • Experience in network management and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in managing email systems and Office 365.
  • Knowledge of firewall management and network security protocols.
  • Experience with disaster recovery processes for file servers.
  • Ability to support and troubleshoot various software systems related to finance, student management, and food services.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with integrated learning systems like Edgenuity.
  • Experience in project management within a technology context.
