About the position

The Network Engineer role involves the identification and virtualization of servers, the creation of test environments, and the maintenance of both physical and virtual infrastructure as part of standard IT systems administration. The position requires the design, integration, configuration, deployment, testing, and maintenance of various network devices and technologies, ensuring secure and efficient network topologies. The engineer will also monitor system performance, provide database support, and ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies.

Responsibilities

• Identify servers to be virtualized and create test environments.
• Convert servers and maintain physical/virtual infrastructure as part of standard IT systems administration.
• Facilitate the evaluation, design, and implementation of secure, high-speed, scalable, fault-tolerant network topologies for CAN and LAN designs.
• Design, integrate, configure, deploy, test, and maintain various types of network devices, interfaces, and technologies.
• Ensure cybersecurity and OPSEC policies are integral to the operating environment.
• Monitor and fine-tune performance of Information Systems, analyzing network usage and addressing user complaints and traffic interruptions.
• Provide database support for SQL databases related to mission-specific applications, including service life-cycle maintenance and user training.
• Create, update, and comply with SOPs and other documentation.
• Configure and manage WSUS/SCCM for patching and application management.
• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot networking issues with Cisco ASA, Cisco Fiber, and LAN switching.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in network engineering or related field.
• Strong working knowledge of network protocols and technologies including QoS, MPLS, VLAN, VPN, VRF, VSS, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and other dynamic protocols.
• Experience in designing, integrating, configuring, deploying, testing, and maintaining network devices and technologies.
• Ability to ensure cybersecurity and OPSEC policies are followed in the operating environment.
• Experience in monitoring and analyzing network performance and user complaints.
• Proficiency in providing database support for SQL databases and implementing reporting features.
