The Network Engineer position at Scientific Research Corporation involves providing onsite network support for IT, users, customers, and various projects. The role requires the engineer to support VOIP phone connectivity issues, troubleshoot and resolve network outages, and assist with network equipment support and circuit maintenance. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for creating network change notices and implementing network changes, as well as performing quarterly failover testing of network capabilities at all locations. This position is critical in ensuring the reliability and security of the organization's network infrastructure, which is essential for both internal operations and client services. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience applying networking principles to implement and maintain secure business networks. A thorough understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DOT1X, Firewall Policies, Class of Service, and Virtual Chassis, is essential. The candidate should also have experience with various protocols such as Transparent Bridging 802.1D, Spanning Tree, Link Layer Discovery Protocol, Power Over Ethernet, 802.1Q Trunk, and DOT1X. Experience with virtual switch stack technology, firewall configurations, VLAN creation, and configuring security zones and permissions is also required. Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary for creating technical documentation, including change notices and network diagrams using MS Visio. In addition to the required skills, desired qualifications include experience with Citrix Netscaler, Ivanti VPN, Aruba ClearPass, Aruba Instant Wireless, and Airwaves Server. Familiarity with SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor and Juniper equipment is also beneficial. Candidates with JNCIA and/or JNCIS certification and a technical degree (2-year or 4-year) will be preferred. As this position is a contractor for the U.S. government, U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a U.S. government security clearance at the secret level are mandatory.
