About The Position

The Network Engineer position at ManTech is a mid-level role focused on ensuring the high availability and integrity of LAN/WAN/VPN networks. The engineer will analyze network access trends, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with various IT teams to maintain compliance with security objectives. This role requires a proactive approach to network management and the ability to adapt to evolving technologies and priorities.

Requirements

  • Experience in network troubleshooting and network management tools.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts including VLANs, Switch ports, LAN, WAN, and VPN.
  • Experience managing, monitoring, and troubleshooting an enterprise network on Cisco hardware.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience analyzing, implementing, and troubleshooting firewall rules on Cisco devices.
  • Ability to work on individual and team-oriented tasks, prioritize competing priorities, and adapt to quickly evolving technology.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Network Automation.
  • Routing experience including static routes, EIGRP, and route redistribution.
  • Switching experience with virtual port-channels, spanning tree, and security best practices.
  • Experience with firewall concepts and configurations including access control lists and VPNs.
  • Experience with load balancing concepts and configurations including layer4/layer7 and SSL offloading.
  • Monitoring of network components via SolarWinds.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field with 5 or more years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze network access trends and resolve bandwidth management issues for mission-critical systems.
  • Implement, troubleshoot, monitor, and maintain all aspects of LAN/WAN/VPN networks for high availability.
  • Review SNMP alerts, use protocol-line analyzers, and conduct log forensics to determine root causes of complex issues.
  • Collaborate with software and database developers, server administrators, and security personnel to analyze SDLC requirements and troubleshoot anomalies.
  • Draft and submit change request proposals for timely mitigation of POA&Ms and CVE findings.
  • Maintain system compliance with DHS/FISMA IT Security and Information Assurance objectives.
  • Install new releases and system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, and resolve network-related problems.
  • Perform system backups and recovery.
  • Maintain data files and monitor system configuration to ensure network integrity.
