About the position

The Network Engineer position involves supporting Campus Refresh and Network Transformation Projects in the Baltimore and DC/Silver Spring areas. The role requires expertise in network design, implementation, and configuration of Cisco equipment, focusing on SD-WAN refreshes and heavy documentation. The engineer will work closely with the Engineering and Architecture team to design and implement new network technologies, ensuring seamless integration and high-level support for network issues.

Responsibilities

• Support various network projects for Utilities and Campus refresh efforts in the Baltimore Metro areas.
• Assess sites and work on SOP plans for network upgrades and refreshes.
• Perform heavy router/switch configuration and documentation.
• Design and implement network solutions using Cisco equipment.
• Conduct gap analysis against configurations sent from offsite build facilities.
• Engage with Operations support teams for installation plans and device integration.

Requirements

• 6-8 years of practical experience with advanced routing and protocols (BGP, EIGRP).
• Expertise in Cisco Router (SDWAN) R8300-8500 and Cisco Meraki design and implementation.
• Experience with LAN/WAN Level 3 troubleshooting.
• Strong documentation and implementation validation skills.
• Proficiency in CiscoWorks and/or IT Guru for gap analysis.

Nice-to-haves

• Good technical writing and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel within Baltimore areas for BGE and PHI areas.
• Flexibility to work weekends as needed.
