About the position

The Network Engineer will be responsible for building, operating, and maintaining network devices, specifically supporting activities related to a project involving migration from Denver to Richardson DC. This role requires a strong background in network engineering, with a focus on configuring routing protocols and managing network environments effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Build, operate, and maintain network devices installed in Virginia DC.
  • Support activities related to the project, including configuring routing protocols and providing network information.
  • Configure ports and VLAN extensions.
  • Assist with the migration from Denver to Richardson DC.
  • Delegate tasks and set deadlines for the internal team.
  • Create complete end-to-end plans including designs and/or upgrades for enterprise-wide LANs/WANs.
  • Coordinate modifications to the network environment with other IT departments and change management.
  • Develop Concepts of Operation, Requirements, Basis of Design, and critical design documents and drawings.
  • Perform fault isolation and resolution in a methodical manner.
  • Assist with life-cycle management evaluations and recommendations.
  • Design and operate networks using routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, and others.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Cisco switches, including Catalyst 9000 Series and Nexus.
  • Support change control after hours or over the weekend.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • 5+ years of Network Engineering experience.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work well with team members.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in delegating tasks and setting deadlines.
  • Experience in creating end-to-end plans for LANs/WANs.
  • Experience in coordinating network modifications with IT departments.
  • Experience in developing critical design documents and drawings.
  • Ability to perform fault isolation and resolution.
  • Experience with WAN technologies, MPLS, DMVPN, VRF, etc.
  • Experience with Cisco switches and related protocols.

Nice-to-haves

  • Valid Cisco certifications including CCNA and CCNP are highly desirable.
