In this role, you will be responsible for planning, designing, installing, maintaining, monitoring, analyzing, troubleshooting, modifying, and supporting network communications systems to ensure maximum performance and availability. You will also be involved in the implementation and support of local and wide area networks (LANs/WANs), focusing on areas such as Internet connectivity, capacity planning, routing, switching, server load balancing, network security, and wireless technologies. Your expertise will be essential in evaluating and reporting on new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities, as well as interpreting internal and external business issues to recommend best practices. The position requires a depth of expertise in specialized areas and a general knowledge of related fields. You will be expected to solve complex problems, take a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions, and work independently with guidance only in the most complex situations. Additionally, you may lead functional teams or projects, impacting the achievement of customer, operational, project, or service objectives. Responsibilities

  • Provides technical expertise in the management of a public and/or private network such as Internet protocol (IP) networks, wide area networks (WANs), and public switched telephone networks.
  • Plans, designs, installs, maintains, monitors, analyzes, troubleshoots, modifies and supports network communications systems to provide maximum performance and availability.
  • Plans, designs, implements and supports local and wide area networks (LANs/WANs) in the areas of Internet connectivity, capacity planning, routing, switching, server load balancing, network security, and wireless.
  • Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance network capabilities.
  • Interprets internal or external business issues and recommends best practices.
  • Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.
  • Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations.
  • May lead functional teams or projects.
  • Requires depth and/or breadth of expertise in own specialized area and general knowledge of related areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Two additional years of experience may be substituted for a degree.
  • Experience in the implementation and technical support of multi-platform, multi-system networks to encompass diagnosing network performance shortcomings and designing and implementing performance improvements.
  • Experience supporting network solutions for complex, high performance systems.
  • Significant experience provisioning and sustaining network infrastructures and have experience developing, operating, and managing networks.
  • Broad technical experience and knowledge of peer-to-peer distributed storage networks, peer-to-peer routing, and application messaging frameworks.
  • Must possess an active TS/SCI w/ a Polygraph.
