About the position

Seeking an experienced network engineer to support mission systems. You'll be a seasoned network engineer performing a wide variety of duties including installations, debugging, maintenance, upgrades and general support for Cisco equipment. You will be a network professional capable of employing sound engineering practices, good judgement, and technical acumen to achieve both short and long-term goals as established by the client. As a network engineer, you will perform services from network design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrading of existing networks. You will analyze design, specifications, and related documents, demonstrating experience with networking fundamentals such as general LAN/CAN/WAN administration, VPNs, VTCs, firewalls, schedules conversions and cutovers, etc. You will coordinate with all responsible users and sites to resolve network or system incidents, translating business requirements into telecommunications (e.g., LAN, CAN, WAN, Voice and Video) requirements, designs, and orders. In this role, you will provide input to the design of the organization's network and mission architecture. You will configure and optimize the network to connect various front-end and back-end components. Your responsibilities will include performing maintenance and upgrades of networks including routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, hardware, and networks. You will maintain network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies, maintaining system backups and recovery capabilities. Understanding the OSI model will be crucial to help visualize how the network communicates and troubleshoot network problems. You will demonstrate experience with network monitoring tools and proactively monitor all network devices, services, and services using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and continuity of operations. Your goal will be to minimize network latency and maximize data throughput through design analysis and network performance monitoring tools, optimizing end-to-end system performance and data flow management. You will implement specific network solutions to support server requirements including load-balancing, Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) TDMA IP-based satellite systems, Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) session performance, VPNs, firewall contexts, Traffic Shaping Voice over IP (VoIP), IP Security (IPSec), IP Encryption, Media over IP (MoIP), and network address translation (NAT) as appropriate.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a technical discipline.
  • A minimum of ten to 20 years of experience as a Network Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Four (4) years of additional experience in Network Engineering can be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification.
  • Security+ related Certification.
  • Information Assurance Technical (IAT) level II baseline certification as defined by DoD 8570.01-M.
