About the position

The Judge Group is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to support the Government at Fort Belvoir, VA. This position requires an active DoD clearance and a CCNP certification. The role is fully onsite and involves a variety of network engineering tasks that are critical to the design, implementation, testing, and troubleshooting of the RNEC-NCR intricate network infrastructure, including the Installation Campus Area Network (ICAN). The Network Engineer will be responsible for responding to critical and VIP tickets within two hours of notification, ensuring that network operations run smoothly and efficiently. In this role, the Network Engineer will support network operations by installing new hardware, operating systems, and software applications while ensuring compliance with Information Assurance (IA) security integrity requirements. The responsibilities include maintaining critical components of the ICAN from the edge router to the Area Distribution Switches, and providing 24/7 on-call support for the network system. The engineer will also configure and support the use of DOD Common Access Card (CAC) and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) for user authentication into the network and applications. The position requires successful completion of equipment installations, movements, additions, and changes to maintain the network ICAN infrastructure. This includes working with hubs, routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and other network enhancements. The engineer will establish communication links to provide the required bandwidth for effective connectivity between Fort Belvoir and offsite Government facilities. Additionally, the role involves implementing and maintaining software and application configuration management, installing security patches, and ensuring that only approved personnel have access to the Fort Belvoir network.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of network engineering tasks focused on the design, implementation, testing, and troubleshooting of the RNEC-NCR network infrastructure.
  • Respond to critical and VIP tickets within two hours of notification by telephone or e-mail by appropriate Government authority.
  • Support network operations with activities such as installation of new hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
  • Ensure compliance with Information Assurance (IA) security integrity requirements for the enclave.
  • Maintain critical components of the ICAN from the edge router to the Area Distribution Switches on a 24/7 on-call basis.
  • Configure and support the use of DOD Common Access Card (CAC) and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) for user authentication.
  • Complete equipment installations, movements, additions, and changes to maintain the network ICAN infrastructure.
  • Establish communication links capable of providing required bandwidth for effective connectivity and digital communications.
  • Implement and maintain software and application configuration management and configuration reporting.
  • Install/update anti-virus software and security patches to protect against IA vulnerabilities.

Requirements

  • Must possess a SECRET security clearance.
  • Must possess a bachelor's degree in computer science or its equivalent.
  • Must have excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Required certification: CCNP Certification.
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of the communications networks and systems employed by the customer.
