About the position

The Network Engineer will be responsible for installing, managing, and troubleshooting network hardware and software to ensure optimal performance and security of the network systems. This role involves collaborating with vendors, training staff, and providing solutions for network issues, while also preparing management reports and documentation related to system performance and audits.

Responsibilities

  • Installing necessary hardware or software, including backups and performance monitoring tools.
  • Troubleshooting tasks to prevent downtime.
  • Providing solutions for upgrade management.
  • Developing plans to address consistent wireless network problems.
  • Planning for future strategies to maintain high network performance.
  • Collaborating with vendors and network managers on implementation and deployment.
  • Installing and managing firewalls and network security protections.
  • Training in-house staff on wireless technologies.
  • Implementing solutions to continuously test network performance.
  • Testing and modifying equipment as needed.
  • Configuring and deploying CISCO switches and access points effectively.
  • Conducting site surveys.
  • Responding to and resolving wireless and network issues assigned by the Service Desk.
  • Writing technical and end-user documentation for projects.
  • Providing system, maintenance, and disaster recovery plan documents.
  • Maintaining software licenses and vendor support.
  • Following team policies and procedures, software standards, and change management processes.
  • Preparing management reports related to system audit, availability, and performance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a network engineer role.
  • Hands-on experience in networking, routing, switching, and wireless.
  • Excellent knowledge of best practices for managing and monitoring wi-fi network infrastructures.
  • Experience with Cisco wireless LAN controllers, implementation, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
  • Ability to set up and configure network devices such as access points.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
  • Cisco training and certifications.
  • CWNA training and certification is a plus.
  • Master's degree in computer science or engineering (or equivalent experience) with 5-8 years of related work.
  • Certifications: Cisco CCNA, CCIE Wireless, CCNP, and ITIL are highly desired.
