About the position

The Network Engineer position is a critical role within our IT infrastructure team, focusing on the design, implementation, and management of network solutions that support our business operations. The successful candidate will have a strong background in IT network infrastructure, particularly in large-scale enterprise environments. This role requires a hands-on approach to network administration, with a minimum of five years of experience in the field. The Network Engineer will be responsible for leading infrastructure projects, including cloud, network, and storage initiatives, while ensuring that all solutions are tailored to meet the specific needs of the business. In this position, the Network Engineer will manage multi-datacenter distributed components of our infrastructure, which includes firewalls, core switches, and SD-WAN technologies. The role also involves troubleshooting and configuring Industrial Control Networks, as well as providing support for various network components such as LAN, remote access, routers, wireless systems, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and load balancers. The Network Engineer will contribute to problem management and assist in the creation of operational metrics and KPIs, supporting continuous service improvement initiatives. Collaboration is key in this role, as the Network Engineer will maintain productive working relationships with peer IT teams, business teams, department leads, and end users across the enterprise. The candidate will also work closely with the Security and Risk Team to fulfill audit requests and help drive risk mitigation efforts. The position requires a commitment to ITIL processes and documentation, ensuring that all operational support is conducted in a structured and compliant manner. The Network Engineer will report to the Network Manager and will be expected to follow directives from the IT Director and project managers for all assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead infrastructure related projects, designing, coordinating, and implementing high-quality customized solutions to support business requirements.
  • Manage multi-datacenter distributed components of our infrastructure including firewalls, core switches, and SD-WAN.
  • Troubleshoot and configure Industrial Control Networks.
  • Provide support for network (LAN and SDWAN), remote access, routers, wireless, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and load balancers.
  • Contribute to Problem Management as appropriate.
  • Assist with the creation of operational metrics and KPIs.
  • Support continuous service improvement initiatives by identifying and executing opportunities to enhance processes and services.
  • Support and contribute to enhancing Knowledge Management.
  • Conduct operational support in a manner that is ITIL process driven and documented, including relevant Change Management practices.
  • Maintain productive working relationships with peer IT teams, business teams, department leads, and end users across the enterprise.
  • Collaborate with the Security and Risk Team to fulfill audit requests and maintain compliance; help drive risk mitigation efforts to address findings.
  • Follow the directives of the Network Manager, IT Director, and PMs for all tasks assigned.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree or comparable experience.
  • Cisco CCNA certification at a minimum; CCNP preferred.
  • Fortinet NSE 4 certification preferred.
  • ITIL Foundation certification.
  • Minimum of 5+ years' experience in IT network infrastructure in a large scale enterprise with hands-on networking experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with network administration.
  • Ability to understand internal/external customer perspectives when executing project and operational responsibilities.
  • Experience with supporting remote office environments.
  • Experience with leading infrastructure projects (Cloud, network, storage, etc.).
  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge in network routing and switching, Cisco ASA, FTD, FMC, IPS/IDS, wireless controller configurations, and AP deployment best practices.
  • Working experience with DMVPN with zone-based firewall deployments.
  • Advanced knowledge of Cisco and Fortinet technologies.
  • Good understanding of SD-WAN architectures with deployment experience is a plus.
  • Expert knowledge of IPv4 TCP/IP subnetting and understanding of IPv6.
  • Rich experience designing and understanding Cisco network device configuration with working knowledge of Fortinet, Juniper, SonicWall, Palo Alto considered a plus.
  • Deep understanding of dynamic routing protocols particularly OSPF, EIGRP & BGP with working experience with route redistribution and performance routing.
  • Cloud computing (AWS, GCP & OCI) experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Network Management Tools such as Solarwinds Suite and Nagios is a plus.
  • Control Network (SCADA) experience is a plus.
  • Fundamental understanding of risk management and audits.
  • Ability to create/maintain artifacts in response to audits.
  • Meticulous commitment to document all network configurations.
  • Proficiency in using lucid diagramming tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with compliance and documentation processes.
  • Knowledge of risk management practices.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes and Change Management.
