About the position

The Network Engineer position is responsible for designing, developing, analyzing, troubleshooting, and documenting computer networks and infrastructure. The role requires extensive technical experience in IT networking, with a focus on ensuring security compliance, performance monitoring, and providing upper-tier diagnosis and resolution of network problems. The engineer will lead major network projects, evaluate current systems, and drive improvements in network processes and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing, analyzing, troubleshooting, and documenting computer networks and infrastructure.
  • Performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation of a statewide network.
  • Developing and analyzing network designs and protocols including prototyping and assessment.
  • Performing planning, engineering, forecasting, and implementation for network systems.
  • Leading and assisting in major network projects to support capacity growth and upgrades.
  • Evaluating current network systems and recommending changes in maintenance and standards.
  • Applying knowledge of standards and industry trends for LAN, WAN, Wireless, Data Center, and Cloud networking.
  • Driving improvements in network process, efficiency, and standardization.
  • Ensuring security compliance and adherence to change control processes.
  • Providing diagnosis, isolation, and resolution of network problems.
  • Identifying and documenting root causes of issues.
  • Proactively identifying potential issues in the production environment and recommending solutions.
  • Developing comprehensive documentation and managing the implementation process.
  • Hosting weekly status meetings with the team.
  • Leading and overseeing activities to resolve end user hardware and software problems.
  • Assisting in the creation of robust network designs and providing ongoing support.
  • Oversight of configuration, maintenance, and documentation of network devices.
  • Reporting project progress and status on a weekly basis.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in an Information Technology (IT) related field.
  • Active Certifications as a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise or (CCNP) Security Certification.
  • Ten (10) years of CONUS technical experience in IT networking.

  • Bachelor's degree in an Information Technology (IT) related field.
  • Active Certifications issued within the last four (4) years.
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) in Enterprise Infrastructure or Security Certification.
  • Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) Certification.
  • Prisma Certified Cloud Security Engineer (PCCSE) Certification from Palo Alto Networks.
  • Layer 2 & 3 optimization and boundary virtual switching systems experience.
  • Scalable routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF) experience.
  • Enterprise Data Center and cloud Networking for Virtualization, SDN, Load Balancing, storage experience.
  • Zero Trust Network Access and micro-segmentation experience.
  • High Availability in Enterprise experience.
  • Advanced WAN service layers, SDWANs and WAN Optimization applications experience.
  • Experience with current Network Security Services applications, services, and appliances.
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure Services and IPAM products.
  • Knowledge of IP multicast, Enterprise Video conferencing, streaming and on demand components.
  • Knowledge of coding languages for scripting.
