We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our team supporting our NGA customer in Springfield, VA. The role involves designing, developing, testing, integrating, and deploying solutions for critical requirements. The current solution is at the end of its life stage, necessitating the development and incorporation of new solutions utilizing innovative technologies to meet user requirements effectively. The engineer will be responsible for designing and delivering an enterprise-level system with a modular, segmented architecture that can support both large-scale and small-scale solutions across a broad range of applicable use cases. The Sponsor requires Information Technology (IT) activities to achieve the goal of designing, developing, testing, integrating, and deploying the solutions. The engineer will design a multi-tenant network architecture with network segmentation that adheres to the Sponsor's information technology security standards. This includes designing networks that enable internet access with managed Points of Presence (PoP) and creating modular and highly configurable networks to leverage novel technological solutions. The role also involves building, configuring, and maintaining network solutions with both a defensive and offensive cybersecurity mindset, incorporating cloud-based technologies such as AWS, Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, and Google to distribute points of presence using distributed systems principles. Additionally, the engineer will develop and implement strategies for systems, subsystems, and associated network components with a vision for meeting today's requirements while ensuring future-proofing through modular design. Responsibilities include designing backup procedures, troubleshooting problems, providing resolutions, ensuring that system development follows guidelines and industry best practices, preparing and delivering program and user-level documentation, and communicating expertise within and across the Sponsor's organizational boundaries. The engineer will work both independently and in small groups, guiding and supporting junior-level personnel as needed.
