About the position

Sigmatech is seeking an enthusiastic and well-qualified IT professional adept at System Administration and Network Engineering. The primary responsibility of the Network Engineer will be to ensure the stable operation of the National Security Space Institute's (NSSI) information systems network infrastructure. This role involves designing, implementing, and managing NSSI network systems to ensure high performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in network engineering and a passion for solving complex network issues. The Network Engineer will be tasked with designing, configuring, and maintaining network infrastructure, which includes routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices. Additionally, the role requires implementing and managing network security measures to safeguard against threats and vulnerabilities. Monitoring network performance and troubleshooting issues to ensure optimal operation and minimal downtime is also a critical aspect of this position. Collaboration with Information Technology (IT) and business teams to design and implement network solutions that meet organizational needs is essential. The engineer will conduct network capacity planning and recommend hardware and software upgrades as needed, while also documenting network configurations, changes, and procedures for future reference and compliance. Furthermore, the Network Engineer will provide technical support and guidance to junior network staff and other departments, and stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements and innovations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.

Requirements

  • A BS degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science from an accredited institution. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in network operations or a similar role.
  • Experience with network hardware and software, including Cisco, Juniper, or other network devices (routers, switches, firewalls), and monitoring tools.
  • Personnel Certification: CND or Network+; CEH or CFR or Cloud+ or GICSP or SSCP or Security+ or GSEC; CCNA or GCIA or GCLD or GDSA or GFACT or CASP+ or CCNP Security or CCSP or GCED or GCIH.
  • Secret security clearance required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud computing service models (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS) and deployment models (private, public, hybrid).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and risk management processes.
  • Familiarity with network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, and directory services.
