About The Position

Abacus Technology is seeking a Network Engineer to provide infrastructure support for the Command, Control, Communication, Intelligence and Networks (C3I&N) Directorate at Hanscom AFB. This full-time position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the smooth operation and enhancement of network systems. The Network Engineer will be tasked with direct monitoring of information systems operations, designing, building, and implementing network systems, as well as troubleshooting network performance issues. The role requires a proactive approach to analyzing network traffic and providing capacity planning solutions to optimize performance. In addition to these core responsibilities, the Network Engineer will monitor and respond to complex technical control facility hardware and software problems. This includes interfacing with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance. The position also involves managing the purchase, testing, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN/MAN/WAN systems. The engineer will perform system-level design and configuration of products, determining hardware, operating systems, and other platform specifications necessary for effective network operations. Support for system engineering related tasks is also a critical component of this role, which includes major systems design, integration, and implementation. This encompasses personnel, hardware, software, budgetary considerations, and support facilities or equipment. The Network Engineer will provide quality assurance reviews and evaluate new and existing software products, ensuring that all information systems operations activities are conducted efficiently. This includes overseeing computer and communications operations, data entry, data control, LAN/MAN/WAN administration, and operations support, as well as operating systems programming and system security policy procedures. The engineer will also provide input to policy-level discussions regarding standards and budget constraints, monitor and respond to hardware, software, and network problems, and troubleshoot network systems as necessary, making improvements to the network as required.
