About the position

World Wide Technology (WWT) is seeking a Network Engineer to join our Government Services team, supporting various customer locations across the United States, including Columbus, OH; Maxwell AFB, AL; and Tinker AFB, OK. This role is pivotal in engineering and designing network solutions while also providing support for Tier 4 network escalations within customer environments. As a global technology integrator and supply chain solutions provider, WWT collaborates with industry leaders such as Cisco, HPE, Dell EMC, NetApp, VMware, and F5, focusing on delivering innovative solutions to Fortune 500 companies, service providers, and the public sector. The Network Engineer will be responsible for implementing and supporting complex multi-vendor routing and switching infrastructures. This position requires a deep understanding of data center and enterprise networking, as well as the ability to troubleshoot large enterprise networks effectively. The ideal candidate will possess the skills to explain technical concepts clearly, providing clients with guidance and vision regarding their network solutions. Additionally, the role involves experience with network topology modeling analysis and general networking concepts, including port channels, virtual port channels (vPC), trunk and access ports. In this position, the Network Engineer will also support new technology solutions such as Ansible automation and SD-WAN/SD-DC. Responsibilities include developing build of materials lists, obtaining quotes, and producing technology refresh plans. The ability to work independently and manage multiple project tasks simultaneously is essential. Experience with network security devices, including IPS/IDS, firewalls, load balancers, and encryption devices, is also required. The candidate should be proficient in using network management and analysis tools, have experience with cloud networking, and be familiar with the installation of structured cabling. Ultimately, the goal is to provide secure, reliable, and high-performing configurations of network environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Government Services team in engineering and design of network solutions.
  • Handle Tier 4 network escalations within customer environments.
  • Implement and support multi-vendor complex routing and switching infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot large enterprise networks effectively.
  • Explain technical concepts and provide guidance to clients regarding network solutions.
  • Conduct network topology modeling analysis.
  • Support new technology solutions like Ansible automation and SD-WAN/SD-DC.
  • Develop build of materials lists and obtain quotes for technology refresh plans.
  • Work independently and manage multiple project tasks simultaneously.
  • Support network security devices including IPS/IDS, firewalls, load balancers, and encryption devices.
  • Utilize network management and analysis tools for effective network monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Install structured cabling as required.

Requirements

  • Secret Security clearance is required.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in Network Engineering.
  • Associates degree in Information Technology or a related field.
  • DOD 8570 IAT LVL II certification is required.
  • Vendor Associates or higher level network certification is required.
  • Experience with Data Center, VOIP, network and security engineering and design.
  • Experience with network and security automation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with F5 Networks BIG-IP Application Security Manager (ASM) and Local Traffic Manager (LTM).
  • Familiarity with Cisco basic switch configurations and segment routing.
  • Familiarity with Juniper Networks SRX series firewalls configurations and management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with network security automation preferred.
  • Other industry product experience and certifications preferred.
