About the position

The Network Engineer position at firstPRO involves deploying, monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing customer networks. The role emphasizes strategic planning and hands-on project management to ensure robust network infrastructure at customer locations, along with the necessary documentation and support systems for efficient operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including configurations, procedures, and service records.
  • Work with department leads to assess and plan for network capacity needs, both immediate and long-term.
  • Establish policies, procedures, and training programs for network management, usage, and disaster recovery.
  • Design and implement customer networks, including LANs, WANs, fiber, cellular boost systems, ERCES, P2MP networks, and Wi-Fi infrastructures.
  • Configure network hardware, including servers, routers, switches, hubs, and UPS systems.
  • Conduct site surveys for wiring, Wi-Fi installations, cellular networks, and fiber construction at customer locations.
  • Travel up to 50% for project deployments as needed.
  • Create and update documentation for network designs, deployments, and customer acceptance processes.
  • Track network assets, including inventory and technical specifications, and monitor network performance.
  • Assist with the implementation and management of network security solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent military or technical training.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of networking protocols and RF technologies.
  • Proficiency in MS Visio and AutoCAD for network design and documentation.
  • Skilled in Excel and Word for project reporting.
  • Experience with Wi-Fi technologies and standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Preferred certifications: CompTIA Network+, CCNA, CWNA (Certified Wireless Network Administrator).
  • Experience with Ekahau, iBwave, RanPlan, Cel-Fi, and DAS platforms is a plus.
