About the position

As a Network Engineer, you will work as part of a collaborative, multidiscipline team in support of U.S. Government operations, providing technical subject matter expertise in the field of network engineering. The Network Engineering team is responsible for supporting telecommunication systems in field operations overseas. Your role will have a direct impact on design and feature enhancements to ensure our systems run smoothly. You will be tasked with ensuring that network operations are safe and efficient by monitoring network performance, coordinating planned maintenance, adjusting hardware components, making logical configuration changes, and responding to network connectivity issues. Keeping the network reliable is crucial for ensuring that our partners stay connected with our suite of applications, products, and services. In this position, you will also be responsible for developing scripts for use with new deployments, as well as recapitalization and upgrades throughout the network. A strong knowledge base is required for the use of Cisco platform devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs. Additionally, you will need to have a good understanding of Visio and technical drawings, as you will be responsible for creating and updating network documentation. Understanding IPSEC and VPN protocols is essential, as our logical network infrastructure utilizes VPN tunneling over IPSEC for secure communications.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor network performance and ensure safe and efficient network operations.
  • Coordinate planned maintenance and adjust hardware components as necessary.
  • Make logical configuration changes and respond to network connectivity issues.
  • Develop scripts for new deployments and upgrades throughout the network.
  • Create and update network documentation using Visio and technical drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with Customer security standards and approval processes.
  • Configure and manage Cisco ASA appliances and VPNs.
  • Utilize VPN technologies, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and IP Multicasting in network operations.

Requirements

  • Currently active TS/SCI clearance and ability to maintain active clearance.
  • Minimum of 9 years experience working with Customer Enterprise Network.
  • Deep understanding of Cisco Configuration, Routing, Switching, and network architecture planning.
  • Ability to configure and manage Cisco ASA appliances and VPNs.
  • Knowledge of remote administration and secure Virtual Private Networking.
  • Strong understanding of VPN technologies and protocols including IPSEC, IKEV1/IKEV2, PSK Authentication.
  • Experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express System configuration.
  • Experience with Cisco Video Conferencing Solutions deployment and configuration.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP Networking.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Relevant experience designing communications systems.
  • Excellent analysis and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within small and large groups.
  • Capable of preparing and presenting briefings.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office product line, including Microsoft Access.
  • Experience with Lotus Notes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of CFSC standards.
  • Understanding of Private Branch Exchange telephony, including Avaya/Nortel telephone switches.
  • Understanding of RF transport mediums including cellular, microwave, and satellite communications.
  • Understanding of wired data transport mediums including Category 5e/6 and fiber optics.
  • Understanding of EAP-TLS certificate-based encryption and RADIUS authentication.
  • Prior experience communicating official traffic in the customer Electronic Messaging System (EMS).
  • Certifications such as CCNP, CCNA, CCIE, MCSE.
  • A current diplomatic passport and willingness to travel.
