As a Network Engineer, you will work as part of a collaborative, multidiscipline team in support of U.S. Government operations, providing technical subject matter expertise in the field of network engineering. The Network Engineering team is responsible for supporting telecommunication systems in field operations overseas. Your role will have a direct impact on design and feature enhancements to ensure our systems run smoothly. You will be tasked with ensuring that network operations are safe and efficient by monitoring network performance, coordinating planned maintenance, adjusting hardware components, making logical configuration changes, and responding to network connectivity issues. Keeping the network reliable is crucial for ensuring that our partners stay connected with our suite of applications, products, and services. In this position, you will also be responsible for developing scripts for use with new deployments, as well as recapitalization and upgrades throughout the network. A strong knowledge base is required for the use of Cisco platform devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs. Additionally, you will need to have a good understanding of Visio and technical drawings, as you will be responsible for creating and updating network documentation. Understanding IPSEC and VPN protocols is essential, as our logical network infrastructure utilizes VPN tunneling over IPSEC for secure communications.
