About the position

The Network Engineering ISP role is responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of internet service infrastructure and network components to enhance network efficiency and availability. This position ensures that internet service network quality standards are maintained to achieve optimal operational levels and key performance indicators (KPIs). The role involves tracking and monitoring network traffic and performance, addressing network issues promptly, and driving initiatives for improvements in network facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with providers, product, and technical support teams to improve time-to-resolution KPIs and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Manage, report, and ensure compliance with service-level agreement (SLA) targets across all functions.
  • Operate and maintain the LREMC fiber network, focusing on the Calix Network infrastructure.
  • Monitor network performance, identifying and addressing issues promptly to minimize downtime and ensure seamless connectivity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex network problems and outages in a timely manner.
  • Implement network changes, upgrades, and patches while minimizing disruption to ongoing operations.
  • Monitor network capacity and make recommendations for scaling and optimization based on usage.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for network enhancements and present recommendations to management.
  • Analyze network traffic patterns and usage data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to manage network-related contracts and agreements.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of network configurations, procedures, and changes.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to provide timely support for network emergencies.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure network innovation.
  • Coordinate and supervise contracted services, design, and construction activities.
  • Implement automated processes across different areas leveraging current applications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Security required.
  • Experience in large scale internet service network management required.
  • Experience in network architecture, engineering, and design required.
  • Knowledge of server operations and security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion prevention, and data loss prevention.
  • Extensive knowledge of core network equipment supporting ISP Networks, FTTx, Metro Ethernet, DWDM, fiber plant, and telecom power.
  • Problem solving and execution skills in driving transformation and change.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Advanced computer skills with a high degree of working knowledge of telecommunication networking operations and provisions.
  • Expert knowledge of network architecture and design, including the ability to develop and implement designs that meet business requirements.
  • Strong leadership with proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
