About the position

The Network Evaluator/System Vulnerability Analyst (Computer Sys. Security Analyst 4) position at HII Mission Technologies is a critical role within the C5ISR team, responsible for managing and overseeing the security of computer information systems. The successful candidate will ensure that these systems are protected from potential threats and vulnerabilities, supporting critical missions at Fort Meade, MD. This role requires extensive experience in information security, strong leadership, and communication skills, as well as familiarity with the latest security technologies and best practices in the field. In this position, the analyst will design, test, and implement state-of-the-art secure operating systems, networks, and database products. They will conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for application design, addressing a wide range of security issues including architectures, firewalls, electronic data traffic, and network access. The analyst will utilize encryption technology, perform penetration and vulnerability analysis, and engage in information technology security research. Additionally, they may prepare security reports for regulatory agencies. The role involves conducting comprehensive evaluations of network infrastructure and systems to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats. The analyst will develop and implement vulnerability assessment methodologies and tools, analyze security breaches to determine root causes, and collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to deploy effective security measures. They will also provide detailed reports and presentations on findings and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders, monitor emerging threats, and assist in the development of security policies and procedures. Conducting penetration testing and providing subject matter expertise on network security will also be key responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design, test, and implement secure operating systems, networks, and database products.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for application design.

  • Develop and implement vulnerability assessment methodologies and tools.
  • Analyze security breaches and incidents to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to develop and deploy effective security measures.
  • Provide detailed reports, presentations, and briefings on findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Monitor and assess emerging threats and vulnerabilities to inform defense strategies.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of security policies and procedures.
  • Conduct penetration testing and simulated attacks to evaluate security measures.

Requirements

  • 9 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's in a related field (e.g., Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science) or 7 years with a Master's or 4 years with a PhD/JD; or High School Diploma with 13 years relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, cybersecurity principles, and system vulnerabilities.
  • Proficiency in using security assessment tools (e.g., Nessus, Metasploit, Wireshark, Kali Linux).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Active TS-SCI security clearance required.
