About the position

The Network Field Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting and maintaining the data network infrastructure, including LANs and WAN connections. This position is responsible for troubleshooting application performance issues, implementing upgrades, and ensuring the efficient operation of network systems. The engineer will also participate in on-call rotations and apply critical thinking to resolve complex network problems.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the day-to-day operations of the data network within defined scope.
  • Provide technical assistance and resolution for network problems.
  • Recommend and assist with the implementation of complex upgrades and improvements to the data network.
  • Work with other infrastructure groups and end-users to identify and troubleshoot performance issues in an enterprise environment.
  • Monitor the installation, maintenance, and monitoring systems of the Clients' network.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Apply advanced skills to resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices.
  • Maintain current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or one to two (1-2) years of vocational technical training preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of in-depth troubleshooting and understanding of practical networking systems such as LAN, firewalls, routers, PCs, and Printers.
  • Minimum of 1-5 years of study towards a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification.
  • Comprehensive understanding of network services and networks such as TCP/IP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate networks, identify issues, and provide solutions to ensure networks are operating efficiently.
  • Can plan, implement, and/or engineer network solutions based upon Cisco equipment with intermediate to advanced complexity without assistance.
  • Able to create comprehensive documentation using Visio and related tools.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations preferred.
