The Network Field Engineering Technician, Engineering and Infrastructure, plays a crucial role in the telecommunications sector by providing rapid and accurate information regarding the design and safe installation of AC and DC power systems, power distribution, battery backup systems, and cabling systems. This position is integral to supporting engineering and operations teams in their efforts to maintain and upgrade critical systems such as HVAC, generators, UPS units, grounding networks, rectifiers, and inverters. The technician is responsible for ensuring adherence to Central Office Engineering and Installation Standards, which guarantees efficient space utilization and the proper installation of facility cable trays and racks. In addition to these responsibilities, the Network Field Engineering Technician takes complete ownership of network sites, which includes designing, standardizing, and managing critical infrastructure such as ISP/cabling. The role requires a hands-on approach to installing network equipment based on established standards, configuring and testing network equipment, and ensuring that all critical infrastructure and power systems are functional. This includes performing battery routines, maintaining generators, and troubleshooting HVAC systems and generators, while also managing vendor support and preventative maintenance contracts. The technician must maintain company buildings, structures, grounds, and equipment to ensure a safe and functioning workspace. They are also responsible for providing feedback and redlines to various teams to ensure that all site records are accurate and updated. The role involves identifying required network repairs for budgeting purposes and performing routine preventative maintenance on network equipment and facilities. Additionally, the technician will conduct annual alarm testing with the Network Operations Center (NOC) and provide final 'Room Ready' documentation for new markets, ensuring that all aspects required by the NOC to monitor network facility environmental alarms are met. Safety is a priority in all duties, and the technician supports Network Operations and Network Planning & Deployment teams, which may include night work and 24-hour emergency call-outs. Travel to project areas and job sites is required as necessary, along with performing other duties as assigned by the manager.
