About the position

The Network Infrastructure Engineer at PNC is responsible for providing technical support and solution design within the Site Reliability Center. This remote position requires expertise in network protocols and troubleshooting, with a focus on delivering excellent customer service and ensuring efficient incident resolution. The role involves collaboration with various teams to meet project objectives and maintain infrastructure technology solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Apply solution design and support while consistently meeting customer needs.
  • Leverage technical knowledge and industry experience to design, build, and maintain infrastructure technology solutions.
  • Develop software components and hardware for projects; align these with business strategies and objectives.
  • Independently solve common problems and update applications with new technology.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, developers, and other staff to meet project objectives.
  • Analyze the technological needs of customers and provide ongoing support for clients.
  • Lead shift staff meetings and provide initial staff escalations.
  • Measure team and staff performance against KPIs and provide feedback for improvements.
  • Drive incident resolution and provide timely client updates.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of Layer 2 protocols such as VLANs, Spanning Tree, and Trunks.
  • Proficient in TCP/IP and related protocols.
  • Knowledge of Public Telephone Switched Network: POTS, DSx (T1-T3), Gig-E, Broadband OC-x.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and configuration of Cisco Routers, including 8xx series ISR, 4000, 1xxx ASR, and 9xxx ASR.
  • Strong understanding of Cisco software, licensing, and features: CATOS, IOS, IOS-XE, IOX-XR, NX-OS.
  • Several years of network support experience at layer 1 through 3.
