The Network Infrastructure Engineer in Network Services within Infrastructure Services (IS) plays a crucial role in the planning, design, documentation, coordination, management, and scheduling of IT infrastructure delivery for data communication services, expansions, repairs, and installations. This position is essential in ensuring that IT meets both current and future network needs across the UCSF community, which supports health, education, research, and business missions. The Network Infrastructure Engineer collaborates with various UCSF departments, vendors, internal IS teams, technicians, and analysts to fulfill communication needs and installation assignments for copper, optical, and DaaS services. This role is responsible for driving the delivery and maintenance of network installations, including services, repairs, and upgrades of both inside plant and outside plant communication distribution systems. The Engineer is also accountable for customer relations, cabling repair and installation, and documentation, responding to customer issues and concerns while providing troubleshooting and remediation of infrastructure voice/data equipment and services. As a seasoned communications professional, the Network Infrastructure Engineer applies a full understanding of industry practices and relevant policies and procedures to resolve a wide range of complex issues. The position requires competency in selecting appropriate methods and techniques to obtain solutions. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy, and placement within the salary range is dependent on various factors including work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. The salary range for this position is $84,400 - $180,000 (Annual Rate).
