About the position

The Network Infrastructure Engineer will be a key member of the Enterprise network team, responsible for both project-related work and day-to-day operational support across various network environments, including campus, data center, and WAN. The role involves providing firewall support, troubleshooting connectivity requests, and participating in a 24x7 on-call rotation. The engineer will collaborate with multiple stakeholders to gather requirements, analyze feasibility, and recommend design solutions, while also providing training and technical support to users with varying levels of IT knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general support across multiple network environments, including campus, data center, and WAN.
  • Provide firewall support, including troubleshooting connectivity requests and VPN tunnels.
  • Complete after-hours changes as needed.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
  • Work on-site to support campus network environments.
  • Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and system owners to produce requirements and recommend design solutions.
  • Provide training and technical support for users with varying levels of IT knowledge.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5-10 years of network and security experience in various disciplines including routing/switching, data center, wireless, security, VPN, collaboration, virtualization, disaster recovery/high availability, acceleration technologies, and cloud services.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work well within a team and with technical and non-technical clients.
  • Familiarity with NIST standards and controls.
  • Intermediate system and programming knowledge of Cisco ISR and ASR Routers, Cisco Catalyst and Nexus Switches, Next Generation Firewalls (Palo Alto), Campus Network Design, Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers and Access Points, NAC/Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE), Network Load Balancing (F5), SD Wan Technologies, Routing Protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), First Hop Redundancy Protocols (HSRP, VRRP, GLBP), VRF implementation and design, VSS and VPC technologies, MPLS WAN infrastructure, IPSEC VPN Tunnel design, implementation, and support, User VPN (Palo Alto Global Protect), IPS, IDS, SSL Decryption, and URL Filtering, Enterprise QOS, IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, Scripting and Network Automation (Python, VBscript, Powershell).
  • Experience in maintaining network monitoring systems and taking and reading network packet captures.
  • Familiarity with AWS infrastructure (VPC's, Security Groups, Direct Connect) and supporting multi-cloud environments (Azure, GPC, etc).

Nice-to-haves

  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP or equivalent experience desired.
