About the position

The Network Lead Engineer at MFS is a senior technical resource responsible for the effective implementation and maintenance of data communications technologies. This role involves defining, designing, and implementing network communications solutions while guiding less experienced staff. The engineer will coordinate tasks with other system areas and vendors, contributing to network system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing, and servicing.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support to ensure the ongoing efficient and reliable operations of related MFS information systems.
  • Troubleshoots complex network outages.
  • Proactively develops and maintains strong knowledge of MFS information systems and their related components, making recommendations to improve reliability, scalability, performance, or security.
  • Leverages technology to automate manual tasks and seeks to improve efficiency wherever practicable and appropriate.
  • Assists in developing, enforcing, and maintaining MFS Information Security controls, procedures, and standards.
  • Receives broad goals and overall objectives from Management and assists in establishing and implementing methods to attain them.
  • Responsible for meeting assigned project objectives including timelines and budget, providing innovative suggestions for solutions.
  • Serves as a technical mentor to other team members.
  • Collaborates with other IT and business groups, readily sharing information with others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related technical field.
  • 5-6+ years of related Information Technology experience, with a focus on LAN/WAN and remote office operations.
  • Comprehensive experience with Cisco routers/switches, network management platforms, and network load balancing platforms.
  • Experience in network patching and network cross-connect best practices and inventory control.
  • Experience designing and building large data center networks.
  • Exposure to newer technology like network segmentation and SD-WAN.
  • Strong technical skills in Network Firewall technology, Network IDS/IPS, MS Active Directory, TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP, SASE networks, and mobile end user support.
  • Experience interfacing with Global carriers to implement data solutions.
  • Proficiency in Cisco routing/switching (NXOS, IOS) and protocols (BGP, IPSEC, SMTP, SNMP, OSPF).
  • Experience in VoIP operations, WAN operations, and Wireless networking.
  • Knowledge of QoS & MPLS technologies and Cloud Implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact, communicate, build relationships, and negotiate well with team members and senior management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automation tools and scripting for network management.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking solutions and architectures.
