About the position

As a Network Operations Center (NOC) Administrator/Engineer, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities during specific timeframes: Within your first 30 days: * Focus on learning about the company and your role. * Complete all company and department-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) and trainings. * Learn about your team structure and the individuals who are part of it. * Discover the systems that are used in the company. * Understand the processes that the company follows. Within 60 days: * Focus on contributing to the company's overall mission and departmental objectives. * Develop a good understanding of the people, systems, and processes. * Identify gaps in the current processes and systems. * Become familiar with our California campuses. * Familiarize yourself with the SolarWinds tool. Within 90 days: * Use your knowledge and experience gained in the first 60 days to triage and completed requests and incidents, as necessary. * Be able to analyze traffic going through the firewall. * Become familiar with our remote offices network infrastructure. * Have a strong understanding of our network topology. Ongoing: * Troubleshoot issues with local-area network (LAN) and wide-area network (WAN) infrastructures. * Configure internet protocol (IP) networks consisting of switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, and network monitoring devices for local data centers and intermediate distribution frames (IDFs) across all Applied Medical campuses. * Operate daily authentication, authorization, and accounting (AAA) services, such as Cisco ISE and network monitoring systems. * Operate Cisco Digital Network Architecture (DNA) Center, Cisco Common Services Platform Collector (CSPC), and other network management tools. * Maintain corporate network infrastructures using HP and Cisco products, such as switches, routers, wireless access points, Firepower firewalls, and adaptive security appliances (ASAs). * Integrate core network monitoring services with other systems through use of services, such as application programming interface (API) and pxGrid. * Participate in technology integration efforts and projects with other cross-functional teams. * Design and implement projects for the Network team. * Lead projects by collaborating with other team members and project management teams. * Propose solutions and create network designs that meet the project's needs and actively participating in all project meetings. * Troubleshoot and complete ticket requests. * Develop business continuity protocols to minimize disruption in business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss. * Provide recommendations for improvements to establish efficiency and efficacy standards within the department. * Evaluate, plan, and execute changes consistent with current technology trends. * Act as an operations escalation point for service exceptions in an on-call rotation. * Design and execute complex change management activities in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. * Foster and maintain relationships with external vendors, service providers, and customers. * Draw network diagrams. * Train and instruct other NOC engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology (IT), or a related field.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification.
  • Minimum of two years' experience or equivalent working as a NOC Engineer or in network operations.
  • Minimum of four years' experience or equivalent working in IT, or a related field.
  • Advanced knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), dynamic routing protocols, Cisco and HP switches, firewalls, routers, wireless access points, network access control systems, AAA services, Cisco ISE, Cisco (DNA) Center, and Linux servers.
  • Experience configuring, managing, and setting up effective monitoring alerts on SolarWinds or another network monitoring tool.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Visio.
  • Perform physical activities, such as lifting and relocating equipment, climbing heights to carry out cabling tasks, and working in enclosed spaces.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Technical aptitude and detail oriented.
  • Strong project management and multitasking skills.
  • Work outside of normal working hours during maintenance windows and planned moves.
  • Open to on-going trainings and certifications, as needed.
  • Travel, as needed.
