About the position

As a Network Operations Engineer III at Panasonic Avionics Corporation, you will play a crucial role in supporting the 24/7 operation of our In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) products. This position involves diagnosing and troubleshooting complex ground network issues while coordinating with peers and staff within the Customer Performance Center. You will lead and execute ongoing technical and interface applications specific to successful ground and satellite network operations. Your responsibilities will include leading network operations and management best practices, working on complex ground and satellite network operations, and providing timely responses to customer escalations. You will also be responsible for planning and implementing network upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches in collaboration with engineering groups. In addition to network operations, you will lead the maintenance and administration of network monitoring and management systems for both ground and satellite networks. This includes validating equipment configuration changes to ensure maximum uptime on critical systems and providing on-call support for production systems. You will also be involved in researching and recommending new documentation tools and methods to improve documentation efforts. Your role will require you to analyze project requirements, collaborate with service and support staff, and ensure that final documents align with Panasonic Avionics Corporation's standards. Responsibilities

  • Support the 24/7 operation of Panasonic Avionics IFEC products.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex ground network related issues.
  • Coordinate with peers and staff inside the Customer Performance Center.
  • Lead and execute ongoing technical/interface applications and operations specific to ground & satellite network operations.
  • Lead network operations and management best practices.
  • Work on complex ground and satellite network operations in conjunction with engineering groups.
  • Provide timely response to customer escalations.
  • Plan and implement ground & satellite network upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches.
  • Monitor ground & satellite network utilizing supplied tools and systems.
  • Provide reactive and proactive support based on interpretation of the tools.
  • Test ground & satellite system performance and provide performance statistics and reports.
  • Lead collaboration to develop and maintain training materials for Customer Support Center & regional field-based teams.
  • Write process/system and other required documentation to support regional ground & Satellite Operations.
  • Complete/Update Site surveys for pre and post deployment design requirements.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or a 4-year technical degree (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering) preferred.
  • Juniper or Cisco certification preferred.
  • Minimum 8+ years relevant work experience in a network operations environment.
  • Advanced experience with troubleshooting and supporting satellite-based systems including iDirect, Newtec, or equivalent technologies.
  • Advanced experience working and supporting global enterprise-based network systems: Cisco Systems, Palo Alto, Avocent, etc.
  • Proficient in networking technologies: Switches, Routers, Hubs, Servers, Cables, Racks, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, Latency, VoIP, QoS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, NHRP, ATM, PPP, MPLS, VTP, VRF.
  • Experience with hardware such as Cisco ASA, ASR, and enterprise switching.
  • Technical support/systems administration experience on UNIX operating systems, including Red Hat Linux, Ubuntu & Solaris, and Juniper Networking Devices.
  • Hands-on technical writing and editing experience, specifically in documenting IT software and systems.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation and communication skills.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
