About the position

Meta is seeking a forward-thinking Network Operations Engineer to join our Edge and Network Services (ENS) team. This role is pivotal in supporting the delivery of field services and requires a candidate with subject matter expertise in hyperscale data center structured cabling, fiber connectivity solutions, and IP networking. The ideal candidate will work strategically with internal business teams, external vendors, and network design/engineering teams to develop strategies for integrating new technologies and enhancing support for existing technologies across our operational fleet. A key objective of this position is to understand the technical drivers for the business, organize strategies to ensure operational supportability, and represent ENS across stakeholder groups to ensure the successful execution of critical projects. The ENS team is dedicated to improving the operational efficiency and reliability of one of the most dynamic and fast-paced networks in the world. The right candidate will thrive in a fast-moving organization and will be adept at identifying operational pain points to implement process enhancements and automation solutions. They will also have a passion for identifying root causes in complex systems and a willingness to quickly learn new domain expertise and technologies. As a Network Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for driving incident response efforts, managing change, and ensuring operational excellence. You will oversee a large contingent workforce responsible for delivering projects and executing recurring operational activities. Collaboration with internal customers is essential to address their needs and influence future iterations of data center and network designs. You will also play a key role in risk management, ensuring that processes are in place to identify and manage data and asset protection risks. Your involvement in automation will be crucial as you analyze operational events to identify new opportunities for automation, aiming for a future where all Tier-1 faults in the network are remediated by software. Additionally, you will be responsible for driving quality into the metrics we report, focusing on areas that yield the best return on investment, and providing clear communication around team goals and progress.
