About the position

An enterprise company located in Phoenix, Arizona, is seeking a Network Operations Engineer to join their IT group. This position is crucial for maintaining the stability and performance of the company's network infrastructure. The Network Operations Engineer will be responsible for monitoring network devices, troubleshooting tickets, and providing effective solutions to ensure optimal network functionality. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving abilities, excellent analytical skills, and effective communication skills, along with a solid understanding of network systems and protocols. This role requires a proactive approach to network management and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service delivery. The Network Operations Engineer will work closely with other IT professionals to identify and resolve network issues promptly. This includes analyzing network performance metrics, responding to alerts, and implementing necessary changes to improve network reliability. The engineer will also be involved in the configuration and management of network hardware, including routers and switches, and will need to stay updated on the latest networking technologies and best practices. The position is onsite and is offered as a contract role, with an hourly pay rate ranging from $50 to $65, depending on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor network devices to ensure stability and performance.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and respond to tickets in a timely manner.
  • Provide solutions to enhance network reliability and efficiency.
  • Analyze network performance metrics and implement necessary changes.
  • Configure and manage network hardware, including routers and switches.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to resolve network-related problems.
  • Stay updated on networking technologies and best practices.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in Network Operations or a related position.
  • Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
  • Experience with network hardware and monitoring skills.
  • Routing and switching experience with Cisco, Aruba, etc.
  • Experience with SD WAN technology.
  • Experience with Cisco or Palo Alto Firewalls.
  • PMP certification is preferred.
  • Experience with MS Project and JIRA.
  • Strong communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Azure Cloud.
  • CompTIA Network+, CCNA, CCNP or other relevant certifications.
