About the position

The Network Operations Specialist position at TEKsystems involves supporting the USMC Reserve HQ in New Orleans, LA, as part of the Network Operations Support Room (NOSR). The role focuses on monitoring and maintaining the Marine Corps Enterprise Network (MCEN) Reserve Sites, ensuring operational effectiveness through incident response, infrastructure monitoring, and documentation of activities. The specialist will work closely with site technicians on Layer 1 Connectivity Projects and problem resolution.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the infrastructure and network, responding appropriately to alerts and events.
• Respond to incidents from triage through resolution, including escalations, where appropriate.
• Respond to infrastructure repairs, including directing remote activities to maintain operational effectiveness for services.
• Provide root cause analysis documentation in accordance with Government procedures.
• Provide data center support where appropriate.
• Document daily shift activities in appropriate reporting and ticketing tools and ensure proper pass down of any outstanding issues.
• Provide incident notification to Government representatives.

Requirements

• Must have an active secret clearance
• Must have CompTIA Security+ CE Certification
• 5+ years of experience in NOC, Watch office, NOSC, networking, etc.
• CCNA will be required for the position; can be granted a 6 month waiver

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Cisco equipment
• Knowledge of firewall configurations
• Familiarity with routers and switches
• Proficiency in network monitoring and troubleshooting
