About the position

Smart Communications is seeking two Network Operations Specialists to manage and oversee the provisioning, monitoring, and management of over 130 remote networks across the United States. This role is crucial for ensuring network service and system availability, performing troubleshooting, and taking corrective actions to recover from outages in accordance with service level agreements. The position requires working in a team environment focused on network management, specifically for remote network systems and connected devices.

Responsibilities

  • Managing endpoint devices and ensuring their proper functioning.
  • Using the Linux command line, specifically Ubuntu Server, for various tasks.
  • Receiving, unboxing, tagging, configuring, testing, boxing, provisioning, shipping, and remote testing of network infrastructure components.
  • Accessing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and configuring designated equipment.
  • Installing firmware or software updates to equipment and servers.
  • Monitoring all networks and systems using a comprehensive Zabbix monitoring solution.
  • Taking corrective actions to restore full service in the event of alarms.
  • Receiving and answering trouble tickets related to network and system service issues.
  • Assisting the Field Services team with turning up new circuits and providing troubleshooting assistance.
  • Traveling to data center, client, and office locations within the United States on short notice if necessary.
  • Communicating clearly with team members, departments, and clients during outages and resolving trouble tickets.
  • Providing regular updates to supervisors regarding work activities.
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Maintaining a positive, service-oriented attitude.

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in Linux (Preferred)
  • 1 year of experience in network administration (Preferred)
  • 1 year of experience in computer networking (Required)
  • 1 year of experience in network management (Required)
  • Ability to relocate to Vancouver, WA before starting work (Required)
