About the position

The Network Operations Support Manager at CN is responsible for overseeing call center staff and ensuring the safe and efficient performance of Positive Train Control (PTC) trains. This role involves collaboration with various departments to maintain service commitments and manage operational impacts, while fostering a safety-focused culture within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations and assigned territory to ensure safe and efficient performance of PTC trains.
  • Collaborate with departments to ensure efficient movement of PTC trains and Trip Optimizer system.
  • Manage emergency situations and unexpected events, ensuring safety and compliance with operating rules.
  • Communicate emergent situations to CN police, Superintendents, and other PTC departments.
  • Ensure compliance with RTC, train crews, NOC Support Representatives, NOC Managers, and Field Managers.
  • Cooperate with NOC Support Desk to ensure problem tickets are escalated and resolved efficiently.
  • Investigate HPTA failures and notifications, relaying information to crews.
  • Coordinate with foreign carriers and terminals for train movements and interchanges.
  • Work with Subdivision File department to coordinate planned work events to avoid delays.
  • Gather information for formal investigations and resolve operational issues with appropriate departments.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Engineering, and Transportation during derailments to order and track contractor equipment.
  • Oversee mainline stoppage due to mechanical issues.
  • Lead departmental employees with clear direction and goals, providing coaching and guidance.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of Operations or Mechanical experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Positive Train Control (PTC).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Service Reliability System (SRS), Train Management Dispatch System (PDS), and Right Time Business Intelligence (RTBI).
  • High School Diploma.
  • Valid Driver's Licence.
  • Ability to obtain USOR qualification.
  • Post-Secondary Education.

Nice-to-haves

  • Any experience with PTC, SRS, PDS, or RTBI would be considered an asset.
  • Any designation related to education or certification would be considered an asset.
