About the position

As a Network Operations Engineer, the right candidate will architect network solutions and contribute technical leadership, while applying modern design principles and cyber secure network operations best practices. The right candidate must be able to collaborate in a cross-disciplinary environment that includes program managers, engineers, security, and test professionals. You will provide hands-on support to the implementation, deployment, and configuration of cloud and on-premises lab environments and apply your technical expertise and consulting acumen to activities ranging from the definition of network requirements to the implementation of cyber secure network operations to support prototyping and evaluation in a lab environment. This position requires understanding of every facet of project execution, analysis and management of the procurement, design, and execution of classified, operational networks, as well as experience leading network development.

Responsibilities

  • Expected to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Architect and build custom software solutions while working with other engineers, analysts, data architects, and SMEs.
  • Provide technical guidance and project leadership.
  • Decompose complex problems into smaller, more manageable components.
  • Take ownership over developed network operations, infrastructure best practices, and process automation.
  • Stay abreast of the latest technologies, design patterns, and architecting processes.
  • Regularly report progress and setbacks to project managers to continually minimize outcome uncertainty throughout the network requirements development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information systems, Cyber Security, Network Engineering, or equivalent.
  • At least fifteen (15) years' experience network design and development in a professional environment.
  • Experience developing and deploying software to major cloud platforms (Azure, Amazon Web Services).
  • Experience architecting secure networks to meet requirements.
  • Must have strong network fundamentals with extra emphasis secure network operations.
  • Must have familiarity with modern JavaScript (ES6+) and front-end libraries/frameworks such as React.
  • Prior experience developing in a software factory team setting, using agile processes, and leveraging modern CI/CD tools such as Git/Jenkins/Docker.
  • Experience with Test Driven Development and Software Quality Assurance (QA).
  • Candidate must have strong written communication skills, possess good people skills, demonstrate strong attention to detail.
  • Must have the knowledge and communication skills to articulate trade-offs between design decisions/courses of action and provide effective updates on project outcome uncertainty to clients/project leadership.
  • An active Top Secret clearance is required.
  • The ability to work in a secure, confined location (i.e., SCIF).

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree or higher in Cyber Security, Network Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Experience developing software using agile processes/guiding principles.
  • Familiarity with enterprise network architectures, security protocols, and policies.
  • Familiarity with aircraft and/or space systems.
  • Professional experience as a network designer supporting the US Government or the DoD.
