About the position

The Network Planning Engineer position at Innova Solutions involves troubleshooting and maintaining complex network systems, including hardware and software components. The role requires the candidate to provide engineering support for network operations, integrate system components, and work collaboratively with FAA staff. This is a full-time contract position with potential for permanent placement, located in Herndon, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot network issues and develop corrective action plans.
  • Troubleshoot complex systems consisting of hardware, software, and communications systems.
  • Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Configure dynamic routing protocols.
  • Provide daily network and telecommunication engineering support, including troubleshooting complex operational issues and performing root cause analysis.
  • Integrate hardware and software system components within a lab environment.
  • Provide networking support to multiple environments including development, test, and production.
  • Provide network administration support to proposal and pursuits, including estimation of effort and completion of Basis of Estimates.
  • Work with network partners and technicians to troubleshoot system issues.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis of issues related to the network and recommend corrective action.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience in large-scale national and international network design, implementation, and operations.
  • Previous experience using Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with SolarWinds or other Network Monitoring Systems (NMS) tools.
  • Experience estimating engineering effort in support of network design, implementation, and operations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with FAA systems/programs.
  • Cisco Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, or CISSP.
  • Experience working with telco service providers.
  • Experience with multicast routing.
  • Experience with scripting languages.
  • Experience with Network Automation tools.
