About the position

Innova Solutions is immediately hiring a Network Planning Engineer for a full-time contract position based in Melbourne, Florida. This role is expected to last between 6 to 12 months, with the potential for a temp-to-perm transition. As a Network Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for updating, troubleshooting, and enhancing solutions within various tools such as BMC Remedy, CABroadcom Spectrum, CA NFA, Splunk, OwnCloud, and Infoblox. You will design and implement new enterprise systems to meet emerging program requirements, demonstrating a strong ability to navigate complex problems and troubleshoot them to resolution. Your responsibilities will also include automating routine job functions using scripting languages like Python, BASH, or PowerShell, as well as scheduling and executing maintenance requests for proactive engineering projects and break-fix scenarios. You will interact directly with vendors for issue resolution and monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot the daily health of infrastructure and services within an operations center using management and monitoring tools. Additionally, you will support on-call responsibilities and may need to work after-hours as required. A key aspect of this role is the ability to impart knowledge and train others, fostering a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, candidates with a 4-year post-secondary Associate's Degree and at least 8 years of related experience will also be considered. Experience in network monitoring protocols and methods, as well as the implementation and administration of network management systems, is essential. Knowledge of networking principles and systems functionality, particularly in troubleshooting OSI layers 1-7, is also required. Familiarity with Linux OS (RHEL/CentOS) and Microsoft Windows OS is necessary for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Updating, troubleshooting, and enhancing solutions within tools such as BMC Remedy, CABroadcom Spectrum, CA NFA, Splunk, OwnCloud, Infoblox.
  • Designing and implementing new enterprise systems to meet emerging program requirements.
  • Automating routine job functions in Python, BASH, or PowerShell as applicable.
  • Scheduling and executing maintenance requests for proactive engineering projects and break-fix scenarios.
  • Interacting directly with vendors for issue resolution.
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and troubleshooting daily status of the health of infrastructure and services within an operations center utilizing management and monitoring tools.
  • Supporting on-call responsibilities and working after-hours as required.
  • Imparting knowledge and training others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience; or 4 years post-Secondary Associates Degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience in two or more of the following domains: Network monitoring protocols/methods such as SNMP, NetFlow, and Syslog.
  • Implementation/Administration of one or more Network Management Systems (Splunk, CABroadcom Product Suite, BMC Remedy, IPAM, Infoblox, OwnCloud).
  • Networking principles and systems functionality, with the ability to troubleshoot OSI layers 1-7 throughout a COTS environment.
  • Linux OS (RHEL/CentOS) and Microsoft Windows OS.
