About the position

In this role, you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for ensuring the reliability and scalability of a network that serves over a billion users. Your primary function will involve developing and deploying network designs, automation systems, and performance improvements to enhance our production network. As the network continues to grow, you will be tasked with solving complex problems that arise in large-scale environments. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on one of the most fast-paced networks in the world, contributing to our mission of making the world more open and connected. You will gain valuable experience through rotational opportunities with Backbone, Data Center, and Network Infrastructure Engineering teams during your first year, allowing you to build a comprehensive understanding of network operations and management.

Responsibilities

  • Build experience with Backbone, Data Center, and Network Infrastructure Engineering teams through rotational experiences during your first year
  • Build, manage and maintain multi-vendor, multi-protocol data center and backbone networks
  • Develop optimized network monitoring systems
  • Design and deploy new network architectures
  • Develop automated methods to mitigate and remediate network events
  • Analyze data to diagnose and identify root causes to network issues
  • Be an active participant in deep technical discussions
  • Develop and maintain consistency within the network infrastructure

Requirements

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
  • Experience with computer networks
  • Experience with UNIX, TCP/IP, network fundamentals, or similar
  • Experience coding in at least one language (Python/Golang/Rust/C++ are all in use)
  • Experience learning new concepts around network design and management
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Switching and Routing concepts and implementation
  • Knowledge of routing protocols BGP, OSPF and ISIS
  • Knowledge of tunneling protocols MPLS, GRE, IPnIP
