About the position

The Network Qualification Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the Client's Norwood manufacturing site. This position requires a candidate with extensive experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in network engineering, to ensure that network systems are qualified and compliant with industry standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong documentation skills, as the role involves developing and executing network qualification protocols, collaborating with manufacturing and IT teams, and conducting thorough testing and validation of network infrastructure. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for documenting all qualification activities, including test plans, procedures, results, and any deviations from expected outcomes. The engineer will also be tasked with identifying and troubleshooting network issues, providing solutions to enhance performance and reliability, and maintaining detailed records of network configurations and changes. Ensuring that network security measures are in place and effective is also a critical responsibility. Additionally, the Network Qualification Engineer will provide training and support to staff on network qualification processes and best practices, while staying updated with the latest network technologies and industry trends to recommend improvements. This position is essential for ensuring the seamless operation of manufacturing processes and the overall integrity of the network systems in place.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute network qualification protocols to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and IT teams to understand network requirements and design qualification plans.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Document all qualification activities, including test plans, procedures, results, and deviations.
  • Identify and troubleshoot network issues, providing solutions to enhance performance and reliability.
  • Maintain detailed records of network configurations, changes, and qualification reports.
  • Ensure network security measures are in place and effective.
  • Provide training and support to staff on network qualification processes and best practices.
  • Stay updated with the latest network technologies and industry trends to recommend improvements.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience as a network engineer supporting Cisco environments; including Firewalls, Routers, and Switches.
  • 3+ years of experience qualifying manufacturing network infrastructure and producing documentation; strong understanding of the impact of network changes in a manufacturing environment.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting a manufacturing environment and applying GmP or 'good manufacturing practices'.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, and switching.
  • Experience with network security practices and tools.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing environments and their specific network requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies and cloud networking.
  • Understanding of IoT and its applications in manufacturing.
