About the position

The Network Security Engineer II position is a critical role within our organization, focusing on ensuring the security of our network infrastructure. This position is based in Irving, TX, and is expected to be onsite. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of network security concepts and will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to the overall security posture of the organization. As a Network Security Engineer, you will work closely with customers to ensure their projects and deployments are secure and successful. You will be challenged in a fast-paced environment, and your ability to handle these challenges will be recognized and rewarded. In this role, you will be a key player on a team responsible for all aspects of network security. You will be expected to have a comprehensive understanding of security concepts and company objectives, allowing you to resolve a wide range of issues effectively. Your responsibilities will include managing firewalls and network filters, developing intrusion prevention policies, and ensuring secure VPN connectivity. You will also be involved in network access control, authentication processes, and DNS security. Your expertise will be crucial in threat research, vulnerability remediation, and the creation of compensating controls. As an advanced engineer, you will work with minimal technical direction and will be expected to prioritize tasks based on business objectives. You will provide technical guidance to junior teammates and assist in maintaining proper prioritization of tasks. Collaboration with senior engineers will be essential as you define network security requirements and assist in risk management reviews. You will also play a role in testing network security platforms and developing policies and standards that enhance our security framework. Responsibilities

  • Manage firewalls and network filters in enterprise, stores, and cloud networks.
  • Develop and implement intrusion prevention policies.
  • Ensure secure site-to-site and remote-access VPN connectivity.
  • Oversee network access control measures.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, and accounting processes, including multi-factor authentication.
  • Manage web access proxy servers and URL filtering.
  • Ensure DNS security and threat research.
  • Conduct vulnerability remediation and create compensating controls.
  • Develop network security policies and document exceptions for approval.
  • Assist in creating professional development and training plans for team members.
  • Prioritize tasks and projects based on business objectives.
  • Provide escalation support and technical guidance to teammates as a subject matter expert.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to define network security requirements for current and future architectures.
  • Assist in risk management reviews and vulnerability remediation efforts.
  • Conduct proof-of-concept testing for network security solutions.
  • Develop and maintain network security policies, standards, and workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field; Master's preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; 3 years with a Master's degree.
  • At least one entry-level vendor certification in Network Security (Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE preferred, Cisco CCNA/CCNP Security, Juniper JNCIA-SEC/JNCIS-SEC, etc.).
  • Preferred: At least one entry-level vendor-neutral certification in Information Security (GICF, GSEC, CISA, CEH, etc.).
