About the position

The Network Security Engineer Intern position at Centene offers undergraduate students a 12-week internship opportunity to work with the network defense team. Interns will apply cybersecurity and privacy principles to organizational requirements, analyze incidents, troubleshoot issues, and automate operational tasks to protect the company's network infrastructure. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in building network security systems and solutions while maintaining compliance with network security standards.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the network defense team to apply cybersecurity and privacy principles.
  • Analyze incidents and troubleshoot network security issues.
  • Automate operational tasks and processes to enhance network protection.
  • Help build and implement network security systems and solutions.
  • Maintain technologies to measure conformance against network security standards.

Requirements

  • Experience or knowledge with network security technologies such as Firewalls, proxy, and DNS environments.
  • Knowledge of network security tools like Wireshark, Snort, and Nagios.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and willingness to ask questions.
  • Ability to identify basic problems and procedural irregularities.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate analytical skills.
  • High level of accuracy, even under pressure.
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited university or college.

Benefits
