About the position

The Network / Security Engineer Intern will support the Network Engineering Team by applying technical skills and creative problem-solving to develop solutions for customers. This internship offers hands-on experience, professional development, and exposure to various technical functions within an IT consulting organization, while working closely with customers and gaining insights into their environments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in eliminating barriers to provide technically accurate solutions to customers
  • Create documentation to streamline solution delivery with strategic vendors
  • Help in creating technically accurate bill of materials using vendor tools
  • Assist in the build and maintenance of product demonstration using demo lab
  • Understand customer requirements and document findings during scoping conversations
  • Gain working knowledge of strategic vendor portfolio and tools
  • Communicate with sales teams
  • Assist with client and sales team questions regarding solutions
  • Conduct technical research (online, telephone or documentation)
  • Support troubleshooting system configuration conflicts

Requirements

  • Enrollment in the Junior or Senior year of an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university
  • Understanding or interest in learning about Aruba, Juniper, Clearpass, Palo Alto Networks (PAN), Cisco, Fortinet
  • Desire to learn or has a security-focused technical skillset, understanding of firewalls, networking concepts (subnets, protocols, routing, ACLS)
  • Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and accept direction on given assignments
  • Self-motivated with a customer mindset and desire to help people
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to learn and research in a dynamic environment
  • Availability to work 40 hours per week throughout the 12-week summer internship
  • Ability to commute to the Trace3 Grand Rapids office
