About the position

The Network Security Engineer at Riverview Bank is a critical role that applies specialized knowledge of Cyber Security and Network Security protocols to design, implement, and manage secure network infrastructures. This position is responsible for safeguarding the integrity and confidentiality of organizational data and IT resources. The engineer will proactively hunt for security threats and work iteratively to mitigate risks associated with network vulnerabilities. The role requires a deep understanding of both Wide Area and Local Area Networking, as well as complex wireless networking, to support secure access for voice and video applications. In this technical position, the engineer will configure and set up Firewalls, VPN Concentrators, and Security appliances to ensure secure access to vital business applications. The role also involves maintaining multi-site network operations, software applications, and operating systems, while performing regular maintenance on both private and public facilities. Continuous monitoring of network traffic is essential, as the engineer will develop and execute strategies to identify and mitigate potential security threats, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. The Network Security Engineer will also be responsible for installing and configuring client and server software, managing patch updates, and adhering to security hardening standards. Staying abreast of emerging technology issues that impact future procurement decisions is crucial. The engineer will respond to inquiries from various stakeholders, providing technical assistance and first-level network administration support. Troubleshooting malfunctions of network hardware and software applications is a key responsibility, as is leading the evaluation and implementation of advanced threat intelligence feeds to proactively identify and neutralize cyber threats. Documentation is a significant part of this role, as the engineer will develop and maintain comprehensive records of network security architectures, protocols, policies, and incident response procedures. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is necessary to design and manage advanced network security solutions that comply with stringent financial industry regulations. The engineer will also help develop and audit security guidelines and practices, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Participation in project management as a security advisor on mid to large scale projects is expected, along with designing upgrades to existing security infrastructure and contributing to the development of cybersecurity training programs for bank employees.

Responsibilities

  • Design, setup, configure, and troubleshoot complex switching environments.
  • Maintain understanding of Wide Area and Local Area Networking along with complex wireless networking.

  • Develop and execute strategies for continuous monitoring of network traffic to identify and mitigate security threats.
  • Install and configure client and server software for network and telecommunication systems.
  • Maintain understanding of enterprise security for internal and external networks.
  • Respond to inquiries from staff and vendors to provide technical assistance and support.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions of network hardware and software applications.
  • Lead evaluation and implementation of advanced threat intelligence feeds.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of network security architectures and incident response procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage advanced network security solutions.
  • Help develop and audit comprehensive security guidelines and practices.
  • Participate in project management as a security advisor on projects.
  • Design upgrades of existing security infrastructure.
  • Participate in discussions regarding security solutions and technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or technical school.
  • Four or more years of related experience and/or training in network security.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals and technical procedures.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence effectively.
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and clients.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages accurately.
  • Ability to solve practical problems in situations with limited standardization.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Accurate data input with a typing speed of at least 35 wpm.
  • Certifications such as MCSE, MCP, CCNA, SEC+, NSE 4 or higher are preferred.
