About the position

The Network Security Engineer will be responsible for managing network segmentation and visibility solutions within the organization. This role requires hands-on experience in network engineering, specifically with Cisco devices and security protocols, to ensure the stability and security of the network infrastructure. The engineer will collaborate with various teams to determine segmentation requirements and troubleshoot any related issues, while also providing support for remote access devices used by medical professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage network segmentation and visibility solutions.
  • Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP.
  • Rack and stack Cisco 2900, 3700, 3600, 3800, 4500, 6500 series switches.
  • Upgrade firmware on Cisco switches.
  • Engage with Engineering, Medical, PCI Compliance, and application development teams to determine segmentation requirements.
  • Engage with vendors to determine segmentation requirements for their products.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to segmentation.
  • Broker after-hours outage time with stakeholders for network segmentation changes.
  • Conduct site surveys of systems/devices that will be segmented.
  • Handle escalated tickets regarding segmentation and network visibility.
  • Provide onsite support for after-hours segmentation changes.
  • Troubleshoot integration issues with other systems.
  • Troubleshoot communication issues between the overlay and underlay of the network segmentation solution.
  • Collaborate with the network department to ensure system stability while adding security measures.
  • Support Radiology doctors with their remote access devices and configure new devices onsite for new doctors.
  • Participate in the Change control process and peer reviews.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in network engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • CCNA, A+, and Network+ certification is strongly recommended.
  • In-depth knowledge of Networking and Security.
  • Knowledge of Security best practices.
  • Experience working with Firewalls, Routers, Switches, Access points, and Voice over IP phones.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Flexibility to work after hours on changes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with network segmentation and Zero-trust architecture.
  • Experience with a SASE solution.
  • Previous experience working in a hospital setting.
